Preparation, rebuilding and expansion of the roadway structure at the approaches of a bridge on Highway 20, over the Chaudière River

Main Work Performed

• Complete demolition of the slab and concrete beams by sawing and with the help of a custom built demolition equipment
• Partial reconstruction of abutments and arches of the existing bridge
• Excavation and fill for each of the abutments
• Installation of temporary support (concrete blocks, geogrids, steel plates) between the phases of work and for the access to the river
• Installation of a temporary steel structure used to support the shoring system of the new arch bridge
• Drilling and installation of rock anchors for the foundation of the temporary steel structure
• Formwork, reinforcing steel and concreting of the new arch bridge
• Supply and installation of structural bearings
• Supply and installation of the new steel structure
• Formwork, reinforcing steel and concreting of the new concrete slab bridge
• Supply, installation and concreting of expansion joints
• Slab cleaning and installation of the waterproofing membrane
