Construction of a landfill site.

Main work carried out

• General clearing of all existing debris and site preparation for construction activities;
• Supply, placement, and preparation of storage areas for appliances, site offices, parking areas, and contaminated materials;
• Supply and placement of fill materials for the construction of working pads;
• Supply and installation of sand and gravel materials for disposal berms used to delineate burn areas, ash disposal zones, and the perimeter berm surrounding the contaminated soil containment area;
• Supply and installation of perimeter fencing, including an access gate;
• Supply and installation of rock barricades along the site perimeter;
• Supply and installation of two (2) culverts for surface water management;
• Construction of access ramps connecting existing roads to disposal areas;
• Final grading to ensure proper drainage of surface water away from the site.

Special methods and technical features

• The presence of high-moisture silty soils requires the enlargement of working pads and limits excavation activities in order to preserve the permafrost layer.
